Description

Image contrast enhancement (ICE) can be easily treated as an optimization problem where the objective is to improve some measure of image contrast subject to constraints on image pixel intensities or parameters of a transformation function. Artificial Bee Colony (ABC) algorithm has been modified to enhance the visibility of the underwater images. The modified algorithm has been applied to select the most suitable pixel intensity range of the image. Our method is compared with other methods in reference to the optimum fitness, mean fitness, Underwater Colour Image Quality Evaluation (UCIQE), Structural Similarity Index Measure (SSIM), average SSIM and average UCIQE values.
